Solar Pool Lights

Solar pool lights are a great option to light up your nighttime pool enjoyment. They work by capturing the sun’s energy via solar collectors located on the top of their waterproof case. The collected solar energy charges a rechargeable battery located within the light, and then the solar pool lights are turned on automatically at night via a light sensor. As a result they do not use any costly electricity.

Solar pool lights are usually small and can be easily moved around. They can float freely or be secured in a smaller area. You can choose to group these pool lights or just illuminate certain areas. During the months where your pool, fountain or pond is not operating, the lights can still be used to add ambiance at parties or as a landscape accent piece.

There are many options when it comes to choosing your solar pool lights. You may choose a variety of colors or just one color. Some solar pool lights are floating pool lights while others have a long post similar to a torch that you simply put in the ground.

Disc type solar pool lights are usually larger than other types of solar pool lights. They may come with an eye to secure an anchor so that they can be kept in one place in the pool or used in a pond. Typically they come in a variety of colors including red, blue, green, amber and white.

Circular type solar pool lights, while not as large as disc type, have many of the same characteristics. They will supply from eight to ten hours of light and come in red, blue, green, amber and white. Their smaller size may make them more appropriate for small fountains where a disc type solar light would look too large.

Sphere type solar pool lights are clear, round balls with red, blue, green, amber or white LED lights in them. They have a weight in the base so they remain upright, allowing the sealed solar panel to recharge during the day. They may also come with a stake, pole or pad so that they may be used for different purposes once your pool or pond is closed for the winter.

Solar pool lighting is offered in a variety of different designs and colors. One popular option is to power a LED pool light which takes very little energy to run, and therefore can illuminates for up to 8-10 hours.

The benefit of solar pool lights is huge especially during the financially depress days. They are inexpensive and don’t add your electricity bill. They are also maintenance free. But there are things you need check for when you shop for solar pool lights. Solar pool lights can be very colorful but may not be as bright as you think. So be sure to get multiple units if you want to light a larger pool. During cloudy days, you can’t expect the light will last as long as it will when they receive a full day of sun. Some solar pool lights may be too small that they can go into your skimmer. You also need to check the quality of the concealments so the solar pool lights may not leak and sink. When the batteries got corroded, they become unusable.
